Jonah completed his eighth and final year with the U.S. Army this month.    Within the past eight years he has worked and trained with Civil Affairs units in San Antonio and Pasadena.  He has served three tours of duty in Afghanistan.

Ours has been what I'm sure is a pretty typical military family's experience.  It's been a long, challenging road but the Army has been pretty good to us. I'm grateful for what we've learned and experienced during our 'Army years,' but I'm also grateful that they've now come to an end.  We kind of like having Jonah around.

I'm very grateful to all members of our military who serve and who have served our country and it makes me proud that Jonah is one of them.

I too am glad that his army years have come to a close. Having an army family so close to us has shown me what a great sacrifice the soldier and his wife and children make to serve our country. I am grateful for Jonah's service, but look forward to having him home full time now!

Wait a minute. Now that he is done with the army doesn't mean he is done wearing the fatigues, does it??? :) No really, I'm so glad you are done with that chapter (even though it has been good to you!)

First of all let me say Thank You to Jonah for his service to our Country and our Freedoms. May he forever be blessed for it. I having been an Army wife as well know exactly how you feel. Many years went by and I was like ok he's done now and he would reenlist it would not be pleasant around our home for a bit then I finally gave in to his wishes. He retired after 30 years served in two wars VietNam and Dessert Storm and I too am grateful he is done finally when he retired as the 1st Sergeant. We are married to special men. Take care and extra hugs to you and your family.
